Les Fleur de Lys

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Les Fleur de Lys (later The Fleur de Lys ) were a British musical group from Southampton , Hampshire .

Career

1964 is generally given as the year of foundation, but the first professional activities did not take place until 1965, with their first publications. They were at the forefront of new bands at a time that a change in the width of music represented, off beat music , towards barriers erupting, new sounds of psychedelic rock , especially the later Freakbeat called British offshoot. As usual for the time, the group made many line-up changes, with only drummer Keith Guster remaining. They finally disbanded in 1969. Electric pianist Pete Sears joined Sam Gopal Dream and recorded on 4 early Rod Stewart albums, including "Every Picture Tells a Story," and was a founding member of the Jefferson Airplanes revival , now called the Jefferson Starship . He later played for Hot Tuna for ten years before joining various ventures with artists such as John Lee Hooker , Dr. John , and Harvey Mandel work together. Bass player Gordon Haskell first replaced Greg Lake at King Crimson before starting a solo career. Guitarist Bryn Haworth moved to the United States and recorded a later unreleased album under the name Wolfgang with a band , including the famous bass player Leland Sklar . He recorded his own works in the 1970s with Island Records and A&M Records before turning to Christian rock with Contemporary Christian Music .

Les Fleur de Lys were distributed by Atlantic Records' Frank Fenter, who also discovered Sharon Tandy , the first white artist to be hired by Stax Records . When they recorded the release "Reflections of Charles Brown", they briefly called themselves "Rupert's People". This song is very reminiscent of Procol Harum's " A Whiter Shade of Pale ", but could not prevail in the top hits, except in Australia, where they reached 13th place in August 1967.

Jimmy Page had their first release made, wrote the B-side of it and was also involved in the production of the second work. In 1966, Chas Chandler had a still unknown Jimi Hendrix record the song Amen of them. They are part of Hip Young Guitar Slinger and other collections centered around England's 1960s rock. Several collections, beginning with Reflections from 1996, have since been released by various record companies.

They supported John Bromley on his only album.
