history

Current members of the Plastiscines are Katty Besnard ( vocals , electric guitar ), Louise Basilien ( electric bass ) and Ana Vandevyvere ( drums ). Previous members were Marine Neuilly (electric guitar) and Caroline and Zazie Tavitian (both drums). Besnard, Neuilly and Tavitian attended school in Saint-Cyr-l'École together . During a concert by The Libertines in 2004, they met Louise Basilien, who had just switched from harp to bass, and founded the group Plastiscines with her. Maxime Schmitt, producer of the German band Kraftwerk became aware of her and in October 2006 EMI signed the Plastiscines under their Virgin France label. The musical influences of the band range from the Libertines to the White Stripes , the Strokes to the Kinks and Blondie . The name Plastiscines is based on a line of text from the Beatles song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds from the 1967 album Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band :

'with plasticine porters with looking glass ties'

"With conductors made of plasticine with mirror ties"

The debut album LP1 was released in 2007 and reached number 61 on the French album charts. In 2009, Marvin Scott Jarrett, editor-in-chief of Nylon magazine , founded the label Nylon Records and signed the Plastiscines as the first group after seeing them on the cover of the French fashion and lifestyle magazine Citizen K.

In the series Gossip Girl , episode 52 Hunt for Jenny , the band had a cameo and played the piece Bitch . Alex Patsavas, responsible for the music for the Gossip Girls series , arranged for various Plastiscines songs to be used as series music. Her single Barcelona was Single of the Week on iTunes for the first week of January 2010.

In April 2013, the Plastiscines released Coming to Get You as a pre-release single for the next studio album Back to the Start . In May 2013, two more singles followed with Ooh La La and Comment Faire , before the album Back to the Start was released on April 28, 2014 .

The single Hideaway is the theme song of the TV series Maman & Ich . Her song Bitch was used in the series True Blood (season 5, episode 5), and Gran Turismo 5 contains the track Pas avec toi .
