The Nieblum lighthouse is a small lighthouse on the German North Sea island of Föhr in Schleswig-Holstein .
Location and description
The tower is located south of the town of Nieblum on Föhr in the district of North Friesland .
It stands directly behind the dike (approx. 400 m from the beach) at the end of the Heidweg. Only the light head is visible from the beach.
The tower has a height of about ten meters; the height of the fire is 11 meters above MThw . The tower consists of a round aluminum tower with an aluminum lamp house and the light cannon. The tower is attached to its foundation with threaded bolts. A small company building stands a few meters south of the tower. The Nebel in Nebel lighthouse on Amrum is identical. The remote-controlled tower has the function of a sector pilot light and is used for navigation in the approach to the Rütergat between the open North Sea and the islands of Amrum and Föhr. There is a strong current in Rütergat. The sectors are very narrow: green 3 °, white 1.5 °, red 3 °. The range of the fire is around 20 nm (white) and around 16 nm (green and red).
