Levan Dutschidze

Levan Dutschidze ( Georgian ლევან დუჩიძე Levan Duchidze ; born March 25, 1978 in Tbilisi ) is a Georgian diplomat who was his country's ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany from January 2007 to November 2009 , based in the Georgian Embassy in Berlin .

Life

After graduating from school in his hometown, Dutschidze wanted to become a zoo keeper and had applied for a job in a Kenyan national park . When that didn't work out, Levan Dutschidze opted for an education and a career in politics and began studying at the Faculty of International Law and International Relations at Tbilisi State University , which he graduated in 2000. Before he graduated in Georgia, a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) enabled him to study economics for two semesters at the Ruhr University in Bochum , where he learned the German language. In autumn 2000, Dutschidze completed a master's degree in international law and international relations at Tbilisi University. Here he took over the management of the academic student organization at the faculty and published the journal Geopolitics , which deals with newer theories and research approaches in political science.

From April 2004 to the beginning of 2007 Levan Dutschidze was a member of the Georgian Parliament for the United National Movement party , where he held the office of Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs. At the same time he worked as a translator in the German embassy in Tbilisi . In 2006 the Georgian government appointed him as ambassador to Berlin .

After handing over the office of ambassador in Germany to his successor Gabriela von Habsburg in 2009, Dutschidze remained in his country's diplomatic service and went to Ukraine (to Odessa ). Here he first became a business analyst and external relations coordinator for the organization “Initiatives for a Better Ukraine” and later coordinator in the International Development Law Organization (IDLO) based in Kiev . With his help and experience, a regional center for administrative services in Kharkiv was expanded , which is particularly dedicated to "fighting corruption and creating a space for transparent cooperation between authorities and citizens".

In December 2014, Dutschidze did another master's degree at the South Korean Yonsei School of Business in Seoul . His goal was to develop his leadership skills and better understand his knowledge of the financial markets and their drivers.

In his free time he likes to go to cultural events or good restaurants with friends. He keeps fit with weightlifting and jogging . His hobbies include photography and scuba diving , to the latter Dutschidse since May 2012, Advanced Open Water Diver ( advanced open water diver ).
