Li Jie (born March 6, 1984 in Chengdu ) is a Dutch table tennis player of Chinese descent. She took part in the Olympic Games for the third time in 2016.

Career

Li Jie was born in China. In 2000 she joined the Dutch association NAK / Den Helder , still with Chinese citizenship . In 2005 and 2006 she played under the Chinese flag at the World Junior Circuit tournaments. In 2007 she received Dutch citizenship and from then on competed for the Netherlands at European and World Championships . With the Dutch women's team, she was European champion four times in a row from 2008 to 2011. At the European ranking tournaments Europe TOP-12 she came in second place in 2009 and 2009 and third place in 2010 and 2011.

In 2008 she qualified for the first time to take part in the Summer Olympic Games . In the team competition, she came in ninth. In the individual she defeated Zhu Fang (Spain) and Liu Jia (Austria), but then failed to Feng Tianwei (Singapore).

In 2012 she qualified again via the world rankings for participation in the Olympic Games . She defeated Natalia Partyka (Poland) and then lost to Ai Fukuhara (Japan). At the 2016 Olympic Games , she was eliminated immediately against Li Xue (France).

In 2015 she won the silver medal both individually and with the team at the European Games .

Activities in Germany

Her European club stations began with the Dutch NAK / Den Helder . After an interlude at UCAM Himoinsa Cartagena (Spain), with whom she won the ETTU Cup in 2009 , and MF Services Heerlen , she joined the Bundesliga club TTSV Saarlouis-Fraulautern in 2012 .

Private

Li Jie is married and has one son (* 2013).
