Liam Mark Kelly (born February 10, 1990 in Milton Keynes ) is an England- born football player who plays internationally for Scotland . The midfielder has been under contract with Bristol City since January 2013 .

Career

The midfielder, who was born in Milton Keynes, England, played in his youth for the Milton Keynes Dons, which was founded as a successor club to Wimbledon FC . From 2009 he was in Scotland under contract with FC Kilmarnock , for which he made his professional debut under team manager Jimmy Calderwood on January 26, 2010 in the game against Hamilton Academical . A week later, Kelly scored the first professional goal in the round of 16 of the Scottish Cup 2009/10 . With FC Kilmarnock Kelly was able to win the Scottish League Cup 2011/12 in the final against Celtic Glasgow with a goal from Dieter van Tornhout . The victory was overshadowed by the death of Kelly's 59-year-old father, who suffered a heart attack shortly after the final whistle and died in hospital. In January 2013, Kelly moved to Bristol City for a fee of £ 200,000 .

National team

Liam Kelly played three times for the Scottish U-18s in 2007 and scored a goal in the game against the juniors from France. From 2011 to 2012 Kelly played in the Scottish U-21s for which he completed a total of nine games, but he was denied a goal. In addition to appearances in the U-21s, the native of England made his international debut in the 2-1 away win against Luxembourg when he was substituted on for Charlie Mulgrew in 2012 under the then interim coach of the Scottish senior team Billy Stark .
