Lido di Dante is a small tourist settlement in Italy and a fraction of Ravenna, about 13 km away, in a north-westerly direction . The place is located on the Adriatic Sea between the mouths of the Fiumi Uniti and Bevano rivers .
General
In contrast to other centers on the Emilia-Romagna coast, Lido di Dante has no major hotels and no industry. The development consists mainly of small detached houses and terraced houses, which are rented out to tourists as holiday flats and apartments. The village was expanded significantly towards the west in 1999.
A public sandy beach extends over the entire coastline and is largely natural. The constantly changing dunes are characteristic . In 2003, the environmental protection organization Legambiente declared the beach one of the eleven most beautiful beaches in Italy.
In some sections, the coast was secured by building jetties or groynes . As a result, Lido di Dante offers the opportunity to observe the influence of these measures on the beach compared to the natural coast in the immediate vicinity.
Since 2002, a 1 km long strip has been officially designated as a nudist beach , but this is politically controversial. A small area for bathers with dogs was also created.
Surroundings
The closest settlements are Lido Adriano in the north and Lido di Classe in the south. To the south, Lido di Dante borders on the pine forest of Classe ("Pineta di Classe"), which is part of the Parco regional del Delta del Po nature reserve . The themed resort Mirabilandia is located not far inland .
