On February 24, 2016, the Croatian television station announced Hrvatska Radiotelevizija (HRT) that the singer Nina Kraljić was selected internally, Croatia at 61 Euro Vision Song Contest in Sweden Stockholm to represent. Her song Lighthouse was released on March 9, 2016. It was written by Andreas Grass and Nikola Paryla.
Music video
The song was originally released without a music video. A preview video for the song's official music video was uploaded to the Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel on March 21, 2016 . In this scenes from the Croatian short film Hvar - Into the Storm were shown. They were shot by Mario Romulić and Dražen Stojčić. The video shows mostly thunderstorms , clouds and the flora and fauna of the island of Hvar in slow motion and in fast motion . The official music video was released on April 7, 2016.
At the Eurovision Song Contes
Croatia competed in the first semi-final on May 10, 2016 and qualified with Lighthouse for the final on May 14, 2016.

Allegations of plagiarism
After the song was released, there were allegations that Lighthouse was a plagiarism of the song Uncover by Zara Larsson . The Croatian TV broadcaster HRT investigated this, but confirmed on March 30, 2016 that the song was not plagiarized.
