Lilián Zetune

Lilián Zetune (born April 15, 1940 in Carmelo , Uruguay ) is a Uruguayan choirmaster .

Zetune, a French teacher by profession, was a graduate of the Conservatoria Nacional de Música and was taught by Hugo Balzo , Héctor Tosar , Lauro Ayestarán , Alma Reyles and Carlos Estrada , among others . Made possible by a scholarship from the French government, she specialized in Paris, among other things, in the Orff-Schulwerk method, in choral conducting and music education.

In Montevideo, Zetune worked at the Escuela Universitaria de Música and secondary schools. She lived for ten years in Quito, Ecuador , where she worked with various choirs, including the choir of the Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana , which she led from 1978 to 1985 as the successor to Óscar Vargas Romero . In Ecuador she gave more than 500 concerts.

In addition to making records and video, she toured internationally and took part in festivals. For example, the countries in which she performed as a choir director included Colombia and Peru . In April 1986 she became the first woman director of the SODRE choir .
