Lilium polyphyllum is a species from the genus of lilies ( Lilium ) in the Candidum section .
description
Lilium polyphyllum is a perennial , herbaceous plant that reaches heights of between 60 and 120 cm, occasionally up to 240 cm.
The leaves are narrow and lanceolate; they are distributed around the stem. The bulbs are round and lie up to 60 centimeters deep in the ground.
The plant blooms with one to ten, occasionally up to forty, downwardly sloping, large Turkic collar-shaped flowers . The six almost identical bloom cladding sheets ( tepals ) are strongly bent back. The basic color of the strongly fragrant flowers is white to pink with a waxy surface, lavishly covered with dark pink to purple dots and stripes, inside greenish-yellow. There are three carpels and six stamens in each flower . The anthers ( anthers ) protrude from the flower on long stamens (filaments). Like the pollen, they are yellow to orange.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24.
distribution
The plant is in the Himalayas at altitudes 1800-3700 m endemic . It is found in northern India , Afghanistan , Pakistan and Nepal , especially in the region around Manali .
Lilium polyphyllum needs a moist, well-drained but not wet soil, prefers light clay soils.
