The Limnanthaceae are a family of plants in the order of the cruciferous (Brassicales).
description
Vegetative characteristics
They are usually annual herbaceous plants .
The alternate leaves are divided into a petiole and a leaf blade. The simple or compound leaf blades are deeply lobed or toothed. There are no stipules.
Generative characteristics
The flowers stand individually on long pedicels in the leaf axils.
The wide-open flowers are three to five-fold with a double flower envelope (perianth). The sepals (sepals) are fused, the calyx lobes being significantly longer than the calyx tube. The petals (petals) are curved. There are one or two circles with three, four or five free, fertile stamens each. In Floerkea are two or three in Limnanthes usually five Upper constant up partly under constant are rare four carpels present, they are usually free or rarely an ovary grown. There are as many styles as carpels.
As many nuts as carpels are formed per flower .
