The Steppe Veil beach Lilac ( Limonium gmelinii ) is a plant from the genus of the beach Lilac ( Limonium ) in the family of plumbaginaceae (Plumbaginaceae).
features
The steppe veil sea lavender is a perennial, herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 20 to 60 centimeters. The leaves measure 7 to 11 (30) × 2 to 3 (6) centimeters. The ears are 0.6 to 1 centimeter long. They are usually one, rarely two-flowered. The crown is 5 to 5.5 millimeters long and bluish to reddish in color. The cup is 3 to 4.5 millimeters long. The calyx lobes are blunt.
The flowering period extends from July to August.
Occurrence
The steppe veil sea lavender occurs in south-east Europe , east-central Europe, west and east Siberia , central Asia, Mongolia and the Himalayas on coasts, in steppes , on salt clay and sandy soils.

The steppe veil sea lavender is used as an ornamental plant for natural gardens and perennial beds and as a cut flower. The species has been in culture since 1791 at the latest.
