Linde Mötz-Grübl in the workshop (from Willi M.) in Edling, Attelthal

Sieglinde Mötz-Grübl (born September 28, 1939 in Mildenau, Friedland / Northern Bohemia ; † November 18, 2014 in Seeon ) was a German artist who worked with various materials (textiles [felt, embroidery, silk, linen, gold threads, fabric], Sculptures [bronze / iron], cardboard boxes, paper etc.) realized numerous projects.

Due to the expulsions after the Second World War, Sieglinde Mötz-Grübl lost her home at the age of five and spent school and youth in Regensburg .

Life

Mötz-Grübl worked for years in Munich in social professions. From 1985 she worked as a freelance artist; initially together with her husband, the sculptor Reinhold Grübl , who died in 1994, and also with the furnishing of objects (figures) for sound installations by the composer and performance artist Limpe Fuchs .

After working on projects in the studio in Ebenhausen im Isar Valley and later in Oeden / Schnaitsee and Amerang , she was artistically active in Seeon until her death.

During her creative phase she created objects made of juniper wood, tied and lashed and treated with clay, sewn sacks of grain with mysterious contents as a metamorphosis of a bygone era, piqued silk and goat hair. The laws of unfolding and inversion are expressed in different ways in works made from “felt cast”.

From the artist's philosophy:

“Either a material draws me to it - then I have to deal with artistic techniques. - My works often arise because an inner movement is pushing towards an outer form; then I look for the material that suits me and begin. "

"Fortunately, my life has given me that living and working to a large extent, inner and outer life could move intertwined. So one day I noticed that I really enjoy doing work that takes a long time, which is what is in this exhibition (note: "In the course of the red thread") is easy to see. My constant thinking about how we as human beings can reach into the vastness of the sky with our feet on the ground, at the same time caught up in a polarized perception, allows me to create archetypes such as the wings , not on the left as on the right, or the dark ravines of the red felt sculpture, which are associated with female forces, similar to the rods and the columnar erection of the human figures with the male. The laws of unfolding and inversion can be observed in space and one can in go to the workshop and use the same forces to look for materials that lean towards you. "
