Villa Lindenallee 7 (2011)

The Villa Lindenallee 7 , also known as Villa Neuerburg, is under monument protection standing monument in Cologne district of Marienburg , which was built in 1924/25 and to Villenkolonie Cologne-Marienburg belongs.

history

The villa was built for the builder Heinrich Neuerburg (1883–1956), a tobacco manufacturer and Consul General of Greece who moved to Cologne in 1921 , based on a design by the architect Emil Felix . In 1925, the two-storey, seven- axis building in the English country house style and based on mansions of the 19th century, which also has an attached one to two-storey business section, was completed. The facade consists of clinker bricks and is structured with Kirchheim shell limestone . The artistic design was probably carried out by the Austrian sculptor Wolfgang Wallner , who also lives in Marienburg , who also took on this for the headquarters of the cigarette company Haus Neuerburg . The wrought iron work was done by Carl Wyland . In 1927/28, the building was subsequently extended to the rear with two oriels on the ground floor .

"The architect cleverly suggested a complex that has grown over centuries, which looks like a castle on the street and a castle on the garden side."

After the villa suffered only minor damage to the roof in World War II , the first structural changes were made in 1959. The previous slate roof was renovated, with a different inclination (associated with changed dormers ) and a cover with roof tiles . The gables above the portal and a side portal were removed .

From January 1962 to February 1979 the villa served as the headquarters of the Deutschlandfunk , which had converted it into a radio house. In 1980 the then People's Republic of Poland set up the office of its embassy in the Federal Republic of Germany at the seat of government in Bonn . For this purpose, a guest house was also built on the property. The entry of the villa, including the park, into the monuments list of the city of Cologne took place on July 3, 1986. In 1993 it also became the property of Poland.

In 1999 the Polish embassy moved to Berlin when the seat of government was relocated . A consulate general of Poland was then left in the villa . She became known to the general public through the Marienburger Matinee concert series . In 2012, plans for abandoning the villa and relocating the Consulate General within Cologne became known. At the beginning of December 2013 it moved to offices at Mediapark , at the same time the property, including a plot of 8,890 m², was put up for public sale. After the first tender was unsuccessful, a new one was launched in May 2014 and another in September 2014. In spring 2015, the property was sold to a project developer who intends to build high-quality apartments on the site.
