Lionel Nallet (born September 14, 1976 in Bourg-en-Bresse , Ain ) is a French rugby union player . He plays second row striker for Racing Métro 92 and is the captain of the French national team .

Nallet began his career at the lower class US Bressane and moved to CS Bourgoin-Jallieu in 1998 . He played there until 2003 when he moved to Castres, where he was also captain. He made his international debut on May 28, 2000 against Romania in Bucharest and scored his first attempt . Although he was mostly part of the French squad in preparation for the 2003 World Cup , he was not nominated for the World Cup.

Only at the end of 2005 did Nallet return to the national team. He played a central role in defending the Six Nations title and was also nominated for the home world championship . He was preferred to Sébastien Chabal , played alongside Fabien Pelous and reached the semi-finals with the team.

After Pelous and Raphaël Ibañez ended their national team careers after the tournament and with Marc Lièvremont a new coach was hired, Nallet became the captain of France at the Six Nations 2008 . At the end of the 2008/09 season he left Castres and moved to the newly promoted Racing Métro 92 .
