Lise Anne Couture

Lise Anne Couture (* 1959 in Montreal , Canada ) is a Canadian architect and co-founder of the Asymptote Architecture office .

Life

Lise Anne Couture received her Masters of Architecture from Yale University in 1986 . In 1992 she was a fellow of the New York Foundation of the Arts . She is a licensed architect in New York State and a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Couture serves on the Board of Directors of the Architectural League of New York , on the Advisory Board of the Builders' Association, and on the peer review panel for the US Government's GSA Design Excellence Program.

Her academic career includes the "Bishop Chair" and "Saarinen Chair" at Yale University, the "Muschenheim Fellowship" at the University of Michigan and visiting professorships at Princeton University , Harvard University , the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI- Arc), the University of Virginia , the Université de Montréal , the Berlage Institute in Amsterdam , the Parsons School of Design and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She has been teaching Planning and Preservation at Columbia University 's Graduate School of Architecture for 10 years . In 2008 Lise Anne Couture was visiting professor at the “Kenzo Tange Chair for Architecture” in the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. In 2009, Lise Anne Couture held the Davenport Chair Visiting Professor position at Yale University and is currently the Baird Visiting Professor at Cornell University College of Architecture, Art & Planning and Visiting Professor at SCI-Arc .

Since Asymptote's founding in 1989, the office has received awards for visionary building designs, master planning, art installations, exhibition and product design, and groundbreaking digital spatial environments.

In 2004 Lise Anne Couture and Hani Rashid received the Austrian Friedrich Kiesler Prize .
