The list of mayors and mayors of Cuxhaven as head of the city has been complete since 1907, when Cuxhaven became a city. With 48,371 (2018) inhabitants, Cuxhaven is the district town of the German district of Cuxhaven .
From 1907 to 1937 (Hamburg time) the heads of the city were mayors , then lord mayors . Since 1937, the mayor has been deputy alongside the mayor. The Lord Mayor was elected for eight years until 2019; full-time since 2000. Its main tasks are the legal representation of the city and, since 2000, the management of the city administration (from 1947 to 2000 task of the city director ).
