Ulrich Getsch

Ulrich Getsch (born August 21, 1949 in Hameln ) is a German politician ( independent ) and educator . He was Lord Mayor of the Lower Saxony district town of Cuxhaven .

Life

After attending an elementary school in Hameln, he attended a business school there and trained as an industrial clerk at the Weser Lenze steel office in Groß Berkel (now part of Aerzen ) .

At Lenze he first worked as a clerk in the purchasing department, but two years later he began studying business administration at the Wilhelmshaven University of Applied Sciences (now Jade University ). He completed his studies in 1974 and then studied business education at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . He then worked for two years in the field of vocational training at Wolff Walsrode .

From 1980 to 1982 he made the teacher traineeship in Stade and was then to 1990 teacher at the vocational schools Cuxhaven (BBS). From 1986 to 1990, he was also a research assistant in a pilot project in cooperation with Volkswagen AG at the University of Göttingen, where he received his doctorate in 1990 on the subject of " Possibilities of promoting business related knowledge: an empirical study with the help of a business simulation among prospective industrial clerks ".

At the BBS Cuxhaven he became senior teacher in 1991 and director of studies in 1992 . In 1995 he returned to the University of Göttingen, where he was a project manager and research assistant at the seminar for business education. In 2004 he became headmaster of BBS 1 in the Lüneburg district and in 2008 headmaster of BBS Cuxhaven.

He is widowed and has three children.

Lord Mayor's Office

As the successor to Arno Stabbert ( CDU ), who did not run again, Ulrich Getsch was elected Lord Mayor of Cuxhaven on September 11, 2011 with 37.6% of the valid votes and a turnout of 48.3%. Getsch's candidacy was supported by the CDU, FDP and the Greens . His term of office ended on October 31, 2019. Uwe Santjer ( SPD ) succeeded him on November 1, 2019.
