Ensembles
Ensemble of the Hornschuchshausen workers' housing estate
The factory owner Fritz Hornschuch had a workers' settlement built in the vicinity of his spinning mills in Mainleus between 1913 and 1940 . The plans are based on a competition design by the architect Rolf Behringer from 1912 and, from 1935 onwards, come mainly from CW Esser. The development of the first two expansion stages, which were largely completed by 1923, shows richly structured rows of single-family houses with designs developed for the garden city idea and large semi-detached houses with apartment buildings. At an elevated point, a restaurant with a butcher's shop, a bakery and apartments were combined into a castle-like three-wing complex, with a monumental war memorial inserted in the courtyard side, which is open to the south towards the valley. To the north are a rising, tree-lined green area and the former wash house. Until the 1920s, attempts were made to create a family atmosphere, as it were, with romanticized architecture, the creation of open spaces, connected residential buildings and communal facilities such as the gym (west of Holzstrasse), inn and gardening (largely replaced by the new B 289). The dominance and care of the factory owner are also expressed in the urban development of the Villa Hornschuchshöhe, which was built in 1925 according to plans by Paul Bonatz on a hill above the workers' settlement (see list of monuments in the city of Kulmbach, Seidenhof 23). The development of the development in the 1930s was initially carried out with the establishment of a Hitler Youth regional leader school and a Hitler Youth home with a large green area north of Kulmbacher Strasse and a Catholic church (still based on plans by Rolf Behringer) on the eastern edge of the settlement. Named after the factory owner Minnalotte Hornschuch, an in-house kindergarten was set up north of Hornschuchstrasse and the development of the settlement with one and two-family houses (typical settler houses) was completed. The signs with the operating symbols and the year of construction, which are attached to each house door, reflect the affiliation to the Hornschuch spinning factory. File number: E-4-77-136-1.

Remarks
- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
