Ensembles
Ensemble Altstadt Stadtsteinach
Stadtsteinach ( Lage ) was the economic center of the Franconian Forest clearing area in the 11th / 12th. Founded in the 19th century on an elevation at the confluence of the Steinach and Zaubach rivers. At the beginning of the 14th century at the latest, the settlement was elevated to the status of a town and fortified as the Bamberg official seat. To this day, the Altort has three focal points within the city wall : the market square in the center, the church enclosure in the south and the official palace in the north. Hauptstrasse and Kulmbacher Strasse lead to the raised, almost square market square. This is surrounded by mostly eaves-free residential and commercial buildings. In the vicinity of the neo-baroque parish church, which, although positioned out of the way, has a strong impact on the market square with its tower, the rectory with the rectory garden, the beneficiary's house and the schoolhouse are arranged. In the area of the former vestibule of the 16th century, parts of which have been preserved, are the caste office and the district court of the 18th century as well as the associated official prison from the early days. The market square and the square-like confluence of the street in front of the official palace are additionally upgraded as urban focal points by fountains from the 18th century. File number: E-4-77-156-1.
City fortifications
There are fragments of the former city wall made of broken blocks. At Kulmbacher Straße 3 there is a round tower with sandstone-framed key loops, in the core 13th / 14th. Century preserved. To the northwest adjoins this area with an inner and outer wall. To the north of it, a state wall section at Forstamtsstraße 4 has been preserved. There is an extended round tower at Kirchplatz 2. File number: D-4-77-156-1.

Remarks
- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
