image designation location Dating description ID
Two multi-family houses in a residential complex, connected to one another by an archway, as well as fencing in the front gardens At station 2; 4
(card)
1920s Plastered buildings with Art Deco echoes, of importance in terms of urban planning and architectural history.

The two buildings, connected by an archway, are characteristic examples of small-scale housing and housing developments from around 1930 that have largely been preserved down to the last detail. Apart from that, these are also noteworthy for small-town conditions, as they have the same quality of craftsmanship as comparable buildings in Big cities. In addition, there are not too many small apartment and housing estate buildings of the period mentioned in this form (with small triangular windows, an expressionistic entrance design, etc.) in the district of Meißen. The property of the monument results from the importance of the building history.

(8), platform roof, water station building (no. 19) and locomotive shed for the narrow-gauge railway At station 6; 6a; 8th; 19
(card)
1875-1877 Station for standard and narrow gauge, station building a plastered building in the style of historicism, locomotive shed of the narrow-gauge railway partly lined half-timbered, partly solid, water station building of rarity, remarkable ensemble of a gauge changing station, of great importance in terms of railway history, technology history, architectural history and local history.

Opening on April 5, 1877 as a passenger and freight station, from 1909 to 1972 gauge changing station between the standard gauge line Riesa – Nossen (route abbreviation RN, connection to the Leipzig-Dresden railway, important transport route for coal from the North Bohemian lignite area to central Saxony, opening of the Riesa section –Lommatzsch 1877, to Nossen then 1880) and the narrow-gauge Wilsdruff – Döbeln-Gärtitz line (route abbreviation WG, hub for the removal of agricultural products, including above all the sugar beet from the Lommatzscher care), from May 24, 1998 pure freight yard - route kilometers : 14.090 RN or 33.230 WG - train station facilities originally comprised the toilet building, railway maintenance office, turntable, reception building, track scales, goods shed, loading crane, loading gauge, loading ramp, locomotive shed and small locomotive sheds, trolley pit, equipment loading ramp, water station and water crane.

  • Station building: clinker negative application, dated 1875 in the old list of monuments.
  • Water station building: Water station building, also known as the water house, was used to hold larger amounts of water to replenish the water supply for steam locomotives. Such water station buildings are rare today, and on narrow-gauge lines they were a specialty anyway. The few water station buildings on the narrow-gauge railways were built using a standardized brick-clinker construction. Such a building is still preserved today in Steinbach in the Ore Mountains. In contrast to this, the Lommatzsch water station building was built in a pleasing and landscape-related architecture with wooden paneling on the upper floor. It was the only building of this type in the area of the large, central Saxon narrow-gauge network between Neichen near Leipzig, Mügeln, Oschatz, Strehla and Döbeln, Lommatzsch, Meißen, Wilsdruff and Freital near Dresden. This fact alone requires the classification as a monument. -
The Lommatzsch water station building was built in 1909 for 6247.34 marks by the Royal Saxon State Railway. It served to supply water to the steam locomotives of the narrow-gauge railway Lommatzsch – Löthain – Meißen-Triebischtal, which went into operation on November 30, 1909. When the Lommatzsch – Döbeln line began operating on November 27, 1911, the locomotives also took water here. The water station building was in function until the closure of narrow-gauge railway operations on October 28, 1972. It was then used by the then VEB Kraftverkehr Meißen. Although the water tank was removed, the external condition remained largely unchanged, only the water crane boom is missing. - Even if at the present time there is no longer any use by the railroad, it is a unique testimony to the history of transport and the development of rural areas by a narrow-gauge railway. - Until 1972, Lommatzsch station was a gauge changing station between standard and narrow gauge. The station building was used by travelers of both gauges and was in use until May 23, 1998. The station building erected in 1877 has already been declared a historical monument. The water station building with its striking water tower has become an integral part of the entire ensemble of buildings at Lommatzsch station. For this reason, it is necessary to maintain the outer building envelope, especially since the building is in a solid condition. In addition, the former narrow-gauge railway line has been reintegrated into the life of the population on larger sections in recent years as a cycle and hiking trail, and almost all of the subway stations are in good condition, without disfiguring alterations. This means that it is still possible today or again to experience parts of the railway line and facilities as a whole - and this undoubtedly includes the water station building at Lommatzsch station.

Saxon postal mile pillars (totality): Post mile pillar
More pictures
Saxon postal mile pillars (totality): Post mile pillar At market 1 (before) re. 1726, copy Copy of a distance column, important in terms of traffic history.

Monument text: Copy of a distance column, marked 1726, made of sandstone, was originally on the market. It was dismantled in 1860 and its parts used as building material. In 1936 the coat of arms and the written part were brought to Dresden as remaining parts and are now stored in the depot of the Lommatzscher Museum. The city of Lommatzsch erected a new column in front of the town hall in 1989/90, which, however, does not exactly match the original, as the original parts and files were not available at the time. In 1722, the Electorate of Saxony began to erect the Saxon post-mile pillars. Elector Friedrich August I wanted to build a modern traffic and transport control system in the electorate in order to promote trade and economy. He entrusted Magister Adam Friedrich Zürner (1679–1742) with the implementation. The system of post mile pillars comprised distance pillars, quarter milestones, half and full mile pillars. The distance columns should be set up in the cities in front of the city gates, later only on the marketplaces. Quarter milestones, half and full mile pillars were set up along the Poststrasse. They received a consecutive numbering (row number), starting from the beginning of the measurement. The all-mile columns were set up outside the cities on the post roads at a distance of 1 mile (= 9.062 km). The distance pillars were marked with the monogram "AR" for "Augustus Rex", the Electoral Saxon and Polish-Lithuanian double coat of arms and the Polish royal crown. The full mile, half mile columns and quarter milestones were all similarly labeled, none of them had a coat of arms, but the monogram "AR". The distances were given in hours (1 hour = ½ post mile = 4.531 km). This mile system was the first European traffic management system. The pillar considered here is of great importance in the history of traffic as part of the nationally significant postal system.

The landlords (including the neighboring “Golden Lion”) pursued a full-time trade and were cooper, tanners, saddlers and rope makers. The barrel above the segment arch portal could indicate that a cooper was a host here or only indicates the name "... to the golden barrel". Deep cellar under the rear property. Local history museum: residential house in closed development, with side wing in the courtyard and rear building (stable and warehouse) Am Markt 14
(map)
re. 1737 Residential building (now a museum) with half-timbered upper floor, the entrance gate with keystone and carpenter's trade mark, of social, urban and architectural significance.

Monument text: The house Am Markt 14 in Lommatzsch was built in 1737 on the foundation walls of a fire ruin by the carpenter Abraham Kühne (hence the carpenter's trade mark on the facade). Exactly a hundred years later, the first royal postal expedition opened in Lommatzsch on the ground floor. After the renovation in 1999, the building became the local history museum. Initially, its exhibits were in the town hall. The collection was presented there by the local Heimatverein (Heimatverein) since 1911 and was constantly enlarged before it was given another domicile for reasons of space. The foundation of the Heimatverein goes back to the early historian Alfred Hennig (1886–1916) from Mutzschwitz. The Heimatverein had set itself the task of collecting evidence of Lommatz's town history. The two-storey building with a half-timbered upper floor, wide gate passage and crooked hip on the right side of the roof is one of the most striking buildings on the market square of Lommatzsch. The former craftsman's house, which was built in the baroque era, has largely been preserved in its original state. As an example of the petty bourgeois Baroque architecture in the first half of the 18th century and an authentic craftsman's house of its time, the house created by the carpenter Kühne is significant in terms of architectural history. With the unmistakable Lommatzscher market ensemble, the property to be assessed here also has an urban significance. As the location of the local history museum, it is also of importance in terms of local history. (LfD / 2013).

re. 1809 Stately plastered building with high mansard roof, large gate entrance with elaborate keystone, location that characterizes the plaza, of importance in terms of urban planning and building history.

Monument text:

The two-storey residential building at Meißner Platz 2, located near the Lommatzsch market square, originally a craftsman's house, was built in 1809 after dating in the keystone of the street-side portal. The builder was the Schönfärber Mende (keystone = M). Despite the structural changes that took place in GDR times, it is a building that makes a significant impact on the cityscape. The high and widely visible mansard roof contributes to this. The original roof structure is still hidden behind the cover, which was renewed in 1988. Here Mende let the dyed fabrics dry. In addition, the wide segmented arch portal made of sandstone comes into its own. It can be assumed that most of the original building fabric and the old room structures have been preserved. The property to be assessed here is a craftsman's house, a building typical of small towns like Lommatzsch of its time. As a result, it is valuable in terms of building history. In addition, Meißner Platz 2 in Lommatzsch, with its dominant structure in a prominent place, is also significant in terms of urban planning. The public interest in preservation arises from the weight of the mentioned importance criteria and the fact that comparable buildings are also recognized and valued as cultural monuments in other federal states. (LfD / 2013).

Simple portal with gate passage; according to information from Gerth Skibinski, the author of the 2011 book “Lommatzsch. A historical city tour ”, the building was rebuilt by the Schönfärber Mende (keystone = M) after a fire in 1809. He let the dyed fabrics dry in the high roof.

Monument text:

The small house at Nossen Strasse 33 in Lommatzsch shows the year 1827 as the date of construction on the door jambs. Possibly this relates to a renovation and the building is even a little older. However, the striking segmented arch portal made of sandstone again refers to a development around 1800. The two-storey building with a crooked hip roof is a typical small town / rural house of its time that has largely been preserved in its original state, which explains its architectural significance. At the back you can see that the half-timbered structure once extended over both floors. The two gables and the ground floor on the side facing the street are massive. The window openings on the ground floor are framed by sandstone walls. Half-timbering on the ground floor is no longer so common, so the object to be assessed here is also a rarity. The public interest in its preservation arises from its historical significance and its rarity. Regardless of this, it must be pointed out that the condition of the 200 year old building is not bad, but is questionable. (LfD / 2014).

around 1700 A gem of rural architecture, presumably the original home of the builder, ornate half-timbered structure with curved St. Andrew's crosses and ladder framework with docks in the parapet fields, lavishly designed half-timbered building in very good original condition of great importance in terms of house history, building history and social history, singular, of supraregional importance.

Monument text: Farmhouse, possibly originally the residential and farm building of the former owner. Dendrochronological examination showed that it was built around 1700. A burnt brick that was found during construction work bore the year 1696, which, however, was not exactly confirmed by the dendrochronological examination. The two-storey house with an ornate and lavishly designed half-timbered structure (originally a half-timbered house) is hardly to be found in the villages of Lommatzscher Pflege and is therefore a special feature of the history of the house. Around 1780, the half-timbered walls on the ground floor were massively replaced. The upper floor is characterized by two intricately structured decorative facades (facing gable side and courtyard side) as well as two plain facades with simple half-timbered construction. The decorative facades contain decorative elements, such as the curved St. Andrew's cross, which were for the second half of the 17th century, as well as short stands in the parapet of the windows in dock shape, which in turn are characteristic of the 1st third of the 18th century. This half-timbered house thus documents the transition between older construction and decorative forms to more modern design elements. The averted eaves and gable sides were created at the same time, they are single-barred and partly have half-timbered struts and foot struts, they are, as was common practice, much simpler in their design. The house is closed by a steep gable roof, which is now tiled. The usual room structure can be found inside, a transverse division into living, hall and stable areas. Behind the former living room, presumably the office, there is a small room. At the end of the hall there is the kitchen and a pantry, both with vaults. To the right of the hall you get to the stable. The floor plan has largely been preserved, but the so-called office room has apparently been reduced in size. From the furnishings, a baroque stucco ceiling in the small room, a wooden insert ceiling typical for the time the house was built, with a nave cove on the ceiling beams, a wall shelf and doors (probably early 19th century) have been preserved. After extensive renovation measures in 1998, the house was given a new use as a club house. The rare and very old half-timbered construction, the original spatial structures, but also the building tools from the 18th and 19th centuries make this building an extraordinarily important cultural monument for house and social history. (LFD / 2011 (using an article by: Hammer, Manfred and Gunter Preuß: Das Neckanitz-Haus. In: Sächsische Heimatblätter number 6/2001.)) Interior fittings available, vault probably 18th century

The stones of the archway belonging to the courtyard were cleared aside. The stable house is marked with 1825 on the portal facing the courtyard. It is a two-storey building with a half-timbered upper floor, crooked hipped roof and portico in the stable wing. Prussian caps which, according to the owner, were added in 1903, rest on the pillars. The tow hatches on the long sides are also striking. The stable house in its present form, which goes back to 1825, is a particularly vivid example of the large and z. Sometimes very elaborate farms characterized by Lommatzsch care. The representative character of the property is underlined by the proximity to the large courtyard at Wachtnitzer Strasse 7. Apart from that, it is a testament to rural architecture and folk architecture that is absolutely worth preserving, especially from the first quarter of the 19th century.

re. 1835 Remarkable rural property from the second quarter of the 19th century, probably both buildings with plastered half-timbering on the upper floor, especially in the main house remarkable furnishings from the time of construction, as an authentically preserved testimony to the folk architecture of that time, especially significant in terms of architectural history.

Monument text:

The courtyard, which dates mainly from 1835, impresses with the authenticity of the stable house and side building, both two-story, probably with plastered half-timbered upper floors and half-hipped roofs. The side building is at right angles to the stable house. Accents set typical, classicist arched openings in the gable tops and the courtyard-side collar hall on the side building. Almost all openings in both buildings have been preserved in their original scale. In the interior of the stable house, apart from the original room structure, there is a striking tiled floor in the entrance area and the old stable wing. It consists of massive pillars with cantilevered spars on which flat cap vaults rest. The barn marked 1946 (or 1846) has been changed and is therefore not a monument. The monumental property of the residential stable house and the side building Lommatzsch, OT Zscheilitz, number 2 results primarily from their importance in terms of building history. These are exemplary structural evidence of rural architecture and folk architecture in the 2nd quarter of the 19th century. With their high, half-hip roofs and characteristic arched openings, they also document the classicist architectural style that was still predominant at the time. Both buildings remained largely original. (LFD / 2011).
