List of senior officials of Saint Christopher
This list of viceroys (king's deputies , viceroy), administrators and governors in Saint Kitts (Saint Christopher) lists the officers of the English colonies from 1623 and the French colonies from 1625 until today.
The first colonization began in 1623 when Sir Thomas Warner founded the St. Kitts colony. In 1626 there was probably a massacre of the local Kalinago . The islands were briefly owned by Spain from 1629 to 1630, after which they became a constant point of contention between France and the United Kingdom. In 1783 the British secured the islands and incorporated them into the British Empire . 99 years later, the two islands were merged with nearby Anguilla to form a federation called St. Christopher-Nevis-Anguilla and it was not until 1983 that they became independent, albeit under the sovereignty of Queen Elizabeth II .
