List of pastors of the Schelfkirche Schwerin

The list of pastors of the Schelfkirche in Schwerin so far includes 35 names. The information on the first to third parishes are taken from the publications of Willgeroth and the archives of the parish .

Until 1755 the church of St. Nikolai (shelf church) was co-administered by the cathedral as a filia . Three preachers are mentioned as examples:

  • Joachim Mankmuß, was sub-principal of a school in 1589 and was appointed shelf preacher by the cathedral chapter .
  • Nicolaus Lindenberg from Perleberg, ✝ 1609. 1564 theological bachelor's degree in Rostock, 1573 master's degree ; 1576–1606 preacher in Schwerin Cathedral ; Preacher at the Schelfkirche for 30 years
  • Andreas Senst from Wesenberg, June 2, 1631. 1602–1624 3rd cathedral preacher ; 1624–1631 2nd cathedral preacher; then appointed shelf preacher for life

In 1755 the pastoral care of the garrison of the city of Schwerin was assigned to the church of St. Nikolai (shelf church). The garrison preacher was Joh. Georg Richter from Gotha from 1732 and then from 1753 Joh. Heinrich Bacher from Hamburg.  

The church law on the filling of pastoral posts (Pfarrstellenbesetzunggesetz - PfStBG) of 10 January 2014 applies to the current filling of pastoral posts . The Church Employment Contract Regulations Mecklenburg-Pomerania (KAVO-MP) of 9 November 2012 apply to the employment of other church employees .

1788-1808 David Joachim Francke * March 10, 1730 in Lindenberg near Demmin; † January 28, 1808 in Schwerin.
1808-1813 Geo. Jul. Ernst Breem Baptized on October 13, 1770 in Teschow; † March 11, 1844 in Gägelow (?). He was a musical man and an excellent gardener.
1813-1847 Vollrath Adolf Bernhard Studemund Baptized December 27, 1774 in Rambow; † February 6, 1857 in Schwerin. He was a prepositus from 1842 to 1847 and was appointed to the church council on November 13, 1844 .
1847-1851 French Wilh. Ferdinand Schröder * October 20, 1812 in Wismar; † December 20, 1884 in Schwerin. From 1849 to 1854 he was co-editor of the newspaper for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mecklenburg and since 1851 school councilor in Schwerin and knight of the house order of the Wendish crown.
1851-1861 Heinrich O. Alexander Seidel * February 2, 1811 in Goldberg; † January 30, 1861 in Schwerin. From November 15, 1856, he was divisional preacher and founder of the library association for the Evangelical Lutheran congregations in Schwerin. He was the father of the poet Heinrich Seidel .
1861-1868 Chstn. Ludwig Schubart * October 9, 1819 in Setzin; † July 3, 1868 in Schwerin (?). He was a prepositus from 1867 to 1868 and from 1863 to 1867 editor of the New Mecklenburg Church Gazette.
1868-1884 Axel Rich. Ottokar Walter * December 21, 1826 in Ludwigslust; † December 2, 1904 in Schwerin. From April 1, 1884, he was superintendent in Parchim.
1884-1887 Wilhelm Ludw. Johannes Grohmann * March 3, 1835 in Ludwigslust; † April 14, 1911 in Schwerin. He was 1886-1902 provost and since 1898 of Churches .
1887-1894 Ernst Georg Adolf Haack * December 26, 1850 in Seedorf in Lauenburg; † April 29, 1945. Doctorate in 1899 as D. theol. in Rostock. In 1908 he was appointed a secret upper church councilor and was head of the seminary from 1901 to 1922.
1894-1897 Martin Christian Ludwig Pistorius * March 9, 1850 in Wernigerode; † October 29, 1897 in Schwerin (?). His grave cross was erected by the Nikolai community.
1897-1917 Carl Bernh. Oskar Heussi * January 1, 1851 in Parchim; † March 16, 1917 in Schwerin (?). He was 1902-1917 provost and since 1915 of Churches .
1917-1920 Martin Romberg * April 5, 1857 in Perlin; † (?). Doctorate on October 31, 1917 for D. theol. in Rostock (on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the Reformation).
1921-1928 Paul Herm. Martin Hurtzig * May 12, 1876 in Kieth; † (?). From 1928 he was state superintendent in Wismar.
1928-1940 Carl Johs. August Ludwig Schröder * December 1, 1875 in Varchentin; † September 20, 1940 in Schwerin (?). In the first parish from January 9, 1928 to January 20, 1940. From October 1, 1932 to 1940, he was provost of the Schwerin-Stadt provost . From 1921 he was a member and secretary of the constituent synod of the state .
1940-1946 Theodor Werner * June 12, 1892 in Homberg (Efze); † November 10, 1973 in Celle. In the 1st parish from April 17, 1940 to June 19, 1946.
1945-1946 Oskar Heintzeler * June 20, 1898 in Winzerhausen / Würth .; † October 22, 1972 (where?). In the first parish from July 15, 1945 to March 31, 1946 (substitute for Theodor Werner).
1946-1957 Gottfried Chstn. August Ludw. Franz Kleiminger * August 12, 1888 in Teterow; † April 29, 1957. From May 1, 1932, he was youth pastor and from 1953 to 1957 provost . In the 1st parish from July 1, 1946 to April 25, 1957.
1957-1970 Oskar Heintzeler See before. In the 1st parish from October 15, 1957 to September 30, 1970.
1971-1977 Peter Tuttas * September 19, 1934 in Königsberg; † September 11, 2011 in Schwerin. In the 1st parish from October 1, 1971 to July 24, 1977.
1986-1996 Wilfried Rahner * March 19, 1931 in Vetschau. In the 1st parish from July 1st, 1986 to March 31st, 1996. During his time, the stable in the rectory was converted into a parish hall.
From February 1, 2009 Burkhardt Ebel * August 31, 1959 in Wismar. He is the initiator of the procurement of the new bronze bells; Bells consecrated in 2015.

1981-2008 Fleischer, Matthias * September 30, 1943 in Schönlanke / Netzekreis; In the second parish from September 1, 1981 to September 30, 2008. Theologically settled in the views of the modern theologians Rudolf Bultmann , Herbert Braun and Gerhard Ebeling . The aims of his theological work were: creation of a responsible congregation and “gathering and sending”.

Initiator of extensive renovation work in the burial place under the choir, work on the church windows, the tower and its roofing as well as the rectory at Puschkinstrasse. 3; Lease of the rectory Schelfstr. 36 for a Christian kindergarten.

1946-1956 Aurel von Jüchen * May 20, 1902 in Gelsenkirchen; † January 11, 1991 in Berlin. In the 3rd parish from March 15, 1946 to February 28, 1956. He was imprisoned in 1950 and was exiled in the Vorkuta labor camp in the Russian Komi Republic on the Arctic Sea until 1955.

1950-1956 Fritz Engelke * January 24, 1868 in Schleswig; † May 15, 1956 in Schwerin. In the 3rd parish from 1950 to May 15, 1956. He represented Pastor Aurel von Jüchen.
1957-1983 Boddin, Joachim * January 18, 1921 in Schwerin; † December 22, 2016 in Hamburg-Volksdorf. In the 3rd parish from October 15, 1957 to June 30, 1983. In the 1960s he played a key role in the renovation of the shelf church.
