List of Ramsar areas in Slovakia
According to the Ramsar Convention, which was concluded in 1971, Ramsar areas are protected wetlands of international importance, according to the intention of the international treaty, especially as a habitat for waterbirds and waders .
In Slovakia there are 14 areas with a total area of 40,697 ha.
The Ramsar Agreement in Slovak Nature Conservation Law
In Slovakia, the agreement has been in force since January 1, 1993, after Czechoslovakia signed the convention on July 2, 1990 .
