List of league leaders in the Bundesliga

The list of the Bundesliga leaders is a statistical listing of how often a club has been at the top of the table since the Bundesliga was founded in 1963. Clubs shown in bold and highlighted in gray will play in the Bundesliga in the 2020/21 season. Of the current Bundesliga clubs, FC Augsburg and 1. FC Union Berlin have never been leaders.

On 1934 match days there were 1955 leaders. There were three table leaders after the 1st matchday in 1966/67 (Eintr. Braunschweig, MSV Duisburg, 1. FC Cologne) and after the 1st matchday in 1984/85 (1. FC Köln, Bor. Mönchengladbach, FC Bayern Munich). There were two league leaders 15 times: after the first match day of the seasons 1963/64, 1964/65, 1967/68, 1968/69, 1971/72, 1985/86, 1990/91, 2006/07, 2008 / 09, 2011/12 and 2014/15, after the 2nd matchday of the 1970/71, 2009/10, 2010/11 seasons, after the 4th matchday of the 2002/03 season, after the 5th matchday of the 1982/03 season 83 and after the 8th matchday of the 1983/84 season.
