Eternal table of the Bundesliga

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Eternal Table of the Bundesliga is a ranking list of all championship rounds of the Bundesliga since it was founded in 1963. The calculation is based on the 3-point rule (three points for each win, one point for each draw).

Up until the 1983/84 season, 1. FC Köln was first in the all-time table, and on the first day of the debut season 1963/64 they were first together with FC Schalke 04 . On the fourth day of that first season, it was Hamburger SV . FC Bayern Munich has been at the top of the rankings since 1983 . So far, 56 teams have played in the Bundesliga. On February 19, 1993, 1. FC Cologne and 1. FC Kaiserslautern played in a direct duel (Cologne 0: 3 Kaiserslautern) as the first clubs to play their 1000th game in the Bundesliga. One day later, Eintracht Frankfurt and Hamburger SV also achieved this value. On October 24, 2015, Bayern achieved their 1,000th Bundesliga victory with a 4-0 win against Cologne. The latest addition is 1. FC Union Berlin , who were promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in the 2019/20 season .

Until the 2017/18 season , Hamburger SV was the only club that had participated in all 55 seasons that had been played up to then. Since the 2018/19 season , Werder Bremen has also reached 55 seasons in the Bundesliga, overtaking HSV as the record holder for the most played games. Of the teams of the 2018/19 season, FC Bayern Munich is the club that has played the longest continuously in the Bundesliga.

With the 2020/21 season, the table includes: 18 Bundesliga teams, 11 second division teams, 10 third division teams, 11 fourth division teams, 2 fifth division teams, 1 sixth division and 3 clubs that have since been dissolved.

Bayern Munich (since the 1965/66 season), Bayer Leverkusen (since 1979/80), VfL Wolfsburg (since 1997/98), TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (since 2008/09), FC Augsburg (since 2011/12), RB Leipzig (since 2016/17) and Union Berlin (since 2019/20) have never been relegated from the 1st league, 1. FC Nürnberg with nine relegations so far the most frequent. With eight promotions to the Bundesliga, Nürnberg and Arminia Bielefeld are record promoters (as of June 2020).

Eternal table

Clubs in bold will play in the Bundesliga in the 2020/21 season. The fourth from last column shows the average number of points gained per game, the third from last shows how often the club in question has become German champions since the introduction of the Bundesliga . The third column shows how many complete seasons the club has already played in the Bundesliga (+, if further seasons will follow).

In societies that have done a lot of the same seasons, the number of games played can still be different because (in the first two years, 1963-64 season and 1964-65 season ) were at originally 16 participants only 30 game days on the program. In the 1991/92 season , the Bundesliga consisted of 20 players as a result of reunification , so that there were 38 game days. The remaining seasons comprised 34 games per club.

Remarks

  1. For a calculation based on the point rule used in the respective seasons, see the Bundesliga website: [1]
  2. Up to and including the 1968/69 season, in the event of a tie, it was not the goal difference but the goal quotient that was decisive for the placement of a team. Therefore, Meidericher SV, who had won their first game 4-1 against Karlsruher SC, was not in first place after the first match day; rather, 1. FC Köln and FC Schalke 04, who had each won 2-0 (against 1. FC Saarbrücken and VfB Stuttgart), together led the table.
