Table positions and league affiliation from 1992 to 2019

The Premier League eternal table is a summarized representation of all the games played in the highest English football league, the Premier League , and takes into account all the teams that have participated in this league since the first season 1992/93 to this day . It is currently up to date with the 2018/19 season .

Six clubs (Manchester United, Arsenal FC, Chelsea FC, Liverpool FC, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton) have been consistently represented in the English House of Lords since the start. They also make up the first six places in the Eternal Table. For the 2011/12 season a Welsh team rose for the first time with Swansea City . The following year, rival Cardiff City also made it to the top division. Thus it came to a South Wales derby in the Premier League.

For the 2019/20 season, the eternal table with 49 clubs consisted of the 20 teams of the Premier League and 19 clubs of the second-rate Football League Championship . The third highest division Football League One was represented by six clubs. From the fourth and thus lowest professional league Football League Two were three clubs with Oldham Athletic , Bradford City and Swindon Town . The FC Wimbledon played from 1992/93 to 1999/2000 in the Premier League and was dissolved of 2004.

Overview map

Premier League clubs in Greater London (Greater London)

Greater London (see right), which is currently represented by five clubs and has won seven championships with Chelsea and Arsenal, is considered to be the football center of the Premier League . A total of nine teams (Chelsea FC, Arsenal FC, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Fulham FC, Crystal Palace, Queens Park Rangers, Charlton Athletic and Wimbledon FC) from the greater London area played in the history of the Premier League.

In addition, the cities of Manchester and Liverpool should be mentioned, which are the largest metropolises of modern English football alongside London. In terms of titles, Manchester is well ahead of the capitals. United and City together won 16 league titles.

Behind it - and with less success - follow the central English region around Birmingham with the most prominent representatives Aston Villa and Birmingham City, as well as the northeast with Newcastle United and Sunderland AFC. English small-town clubs have mostly played a subordinate role since the beginning of the Premier League, with the Blackburn Rovers being a temporary exception with a title win in the mid-1990s.

  2. Middlesbrough FC did not play for their game against Blackburn Rovers on December 21, 1996 and received a penalty of three points for it.
  3. Wimbledon FC was relocated to the city of Milton Keynes , more than 100 km to the north, where it bears the name Milton Keynes Dons . Although mainly the supporters and the public were against it, the MK Dons are officially run by the FA as the successor to Wimbledon FC. The fans of FC Wimbledon founded the new club AFC Wimbledon .
  4. Portsmouth FC were deducted nine points in March 2010 following bankruptcy proceedings, the first in the history of the Premier League. At the end of the season, Portsmouth was relegated. In the years that followed, things continued to decline. After a 24th and final place in Football League One 2012/13, the Blue Army competes in the lowest professional league Football League Two 2013/14.
