history
Official diplomatic relations began during World War II in the 1940s, when India was still under British rule . From February 4 to 21, 1942, Chiang Kai-shek visited New Delhi in British India with his wife Wang Chong Hui and Attaché Zhang Daofan , had an audience on February 9 with Victor Hope, 2nd Marquess of the Viceroy of India Linlithgow and met in Calcutta , Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi .
After Chinese troops were trained for the Burma campaign in British India , the British colonial authorities issued Chun-Chien Pao (* 1898 in Jiangsu ) exequatur as consul general in Calcutta and a Chinese consulate was set up in Bombay . In New Delhi in 1942 an office of the Chinese Commissioner Office was established . After India gained independence in 1947, it established diplomatic relations with the government in Beijing in 1950 .
After the Indo-Chinese border war of 1962, the People's Republic of China was only represented by one chargé d'affaires in New Delhi from 1962 to 1976.
