Visible from afar, situated on a steep cone of volcanic origin. 1157 Donation of the Kiscen mountain to Count Wolfer and Hedrich . Construction of a wooden castle and foundation of a Benedictine monastery on Mount Quizin . 1180 Abolition of the monastery, construction of a stone castle under King Béla III : Novum Castrum . 1289 capture of the castle by Duke Albrecht of Austria . After 1327 castle and rule in changing ownership. Handed over to Franz Batthyány in 1524 , family property until 1870, since then Prince Philipp Batthyány Foundation. Medieval parts in the basement of the keep and the residential buildings. Expansion of the residential wing and the fortifications in the 16th and 17th centuries. 1778 Start of demolition. Conservation since 1957.

Romanesque church made of bricks with corner blocks, built around 1200. Rectangular nave; low, drawn in semicircular apse; baroque roof turrets. Toothed frieze on the northern eaves cornice . Three Romanesque windows in the south wall. An original arched window in the apse. Newer sacristy and death chamber added to the south. Romanesque west portal.

Erected in place of an older Augustinian hermit monastery that was abandoned in 1574 and destroyed in the first half of the 17th century. Donated in 1648 and probably built according to plans by the imperial court architect Filiberto Lucchese and moved into in 1649. Three-wing building, courtyard wall with portal with crenellated gable (17th century). Next to it is a gate with a curved gable (18th century). In the cloister there is a Roman tombstone with an inscription. Altar 1662 from the parish church. Notable library (manuscripts, incunabula , first prints, etc.)

Erected around 1740. Large, free-standing, four-sided, two-story building, three-story towards the market square. Facing the street there is a central projection with flat pilasters , two-storey pillar arcades on the eastern side of the courtyard.

Built in 1804. Classicist building, three storeys on the eastern front and two storeys on the rear. Triaxial central risalit with gable and half-column structure; Side wings with five axes each. The only Gothic winged altar in Burgenland is in the house chapel , according to the inscription from 1469.

After the previous church burned down completely in a fire in 1897, the church was rebuilt and consecrated on September 22, 1907 by the archpriest Canon Franz Baumgartner. The 4 linden trees in front of the church were planted in 1908.
