Stones from the Araburg were used in the construction of the narrow house, which essentially dates from the 16th century. From 1784 to 1835 it housed a school, later it was used as a hunter's house and then as a hiking hostel. The gendarmerie was also temporarily housed there. In 1987 it was adapted to become the first local museum in Triesting Valley. |

Araburg castle ruins ObjectID : 24258 |

The Araburg, which was built in the 12th century and continuously expanded into the 17th century, was destroyed in the course of the second Turkish siege of Vienna and not restored. The keep was converted into a lookout point in 1901. In the 1960s, the remains of the complex were secured and partially renovated after further damage had occurred in the Second World War . |
