The parish church of Nestelbach is dedicated to St. James the Elder. Consecrated to elders. A church was first mentioned in the 9th century in Nezilepach in Hengistgau as a branch of Gleisdorf . In 1446 an older church in the Gothic style was built on a difficult to access hillside location, a little below the current building, and was first mentioned in a document. There was a cemetery around this building, but it was abandoned. In the years from 1779 to 1783 the new building was carried out in the late baroque style . The parish church in Laxenburg in Lower Austria served as a model . The cemetery was laid out again around the new church. For reasons of space, however, this was moved to the ridge above the parish church. In the 1930s and 1940s, the last grave inscriptions were removed from the church wall. The last general renovation of the church took place in 1993.
