Reception and chart successes
Nick Butler from Sputnik Music rated the album 3.5 out of 5. He criticized the many electronic effects used in the songs and was slightly disappointed that none of the songs matched Gee's qualities . The American music magazine Spin included the album in its list of the best pop albums of 2011 as number 18. The writer Charles Aaron described the song " Run Devil Run " as the highlight of the album .
The album went double platinum in Japan. In 2012 the album was named Best Album of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan .
