The hunting lodge in Bärnriedlau is over 300 years old and, not least because of its history, a cultural and historical object. It belonged to the Lamberg domain and was only used by the Lamberg family and their guests for more than 200 years . It was not until 1900 that the hunting ground was also leased. The best-known tenant was Franz Ferdinand von Österreich-Este . He initiated the renovation of the old hunting lodge and had a network of bridle paths laid out. In 1956 the hut became the property of Österreichische Bundesforste AG . The listed building has been renovated and rebuilt since autumn 2012. It is a base for wildlife management in the Kalkalpen National Park .
