List of Israeli ambassadors in South Africa

Israel established a consulate general in Pretoria in 1949 , which was upgraded to a legation in 1950. There was a consulate in Johannesburg .

Since the 1960s the envoy in Pretoria has had the diplomatic rank of ambassador . On November 6, 1962, the representative of Israel at the UN headquarters voted in the XVII. UN General Assembly meeting for Resolution 1761 calling for sanctions against apartheid legislation in South Africa. In September 1963, Ambassador was Simha Pratt recalled from Pretoria and his successor Azriel Harel had the rank of charge d'affaires .
