List of Israeli champions in chess

The list of Israeli champions in chess contains the winners of all Israeli individual championships.

General

After the League of Nations championship for Palestine was played six times between 1935 and 1945 before the State of Israel was founded, the first Israeli championship took place in 1951. This was played every two years until 1971. The next event took place in 1974, since then the competition has been held every two years (with one exception). The record champion is Josef Porath , who won the title six times.

The women's championship has been held since 1955 and has been held in the same years as the Israeli championship since then. The record champion is Luba Kristol with five titles.
