Boris Awruch ( Hebrew בוריס אברוך, FIDE notation Boris Avrukh ; * February 10, 1978 in Karagandy ) is an Israeli chess player of Kazakh origin. In 1993 he became International Master and since 1997 he has been Grand Master .

Life

Starting for the Soviet Union , Awruch won the U-12 Youth World Championship in Fond du Lac in 1990 . In 1995 he emigrated to Israel. Since 1998 he has been a permanent member of the Israeli national team, with which he took part in seven ( 1998 , 2000 , 2002 , 2004 , 2006 , 2008 and 2012 ) Chess Olympiads until 2012 . He won three medals: gold in 1998 as the best second reservist, bronze in 2006 as the best player on the fourth board, silver at the 2008 Chess Olympiad in Dresden with the team.

In 2005 he played in the national team at the World Team Championship in Beersheba and won bronze for his result on board four. He also won silver four times at European team championships , in which he took part six times (1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009): twice with the team (2003 and 2005) and twice for his individual result (2005 for the result on the fourth board , as well as due to its Elo performance ). From 2007 to 2009 he played in the German Federal Chess League for SC Remagen, and in the 2014/15 season for SK Schwäbisch Hall . In the Dutch Meesterklasse Awrukh played in the 2003-04 season when BIS Beamer team , in the French Top 12 in the 2010/11 season at Lutèce Echecs , in the Spanish team championship he played in 2008 for Sestao Naturgas Energia XT . In the Russian team championship he played in 2008 for Shatar Buryatia , in Israel for the Be'er Scheva Chess Club and the Ashdod City Club , with which he took part in a total of 15 European Club Cups .

In international competitions he scored numerous successes: He won, among others, in 2000 the B-tournament in Wijk aan Zee (shared with Sergei Tiviakov and Alexander Onischuk ) in Biel (Master Tournament) 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006, as well as in Andorra 2001. In in 2000 (shared with Alik Gershon ) and 2008 he became Israeli national champion. In 2009 he shared first places at the Politiken Cup in Copenhagen (where he defeated Vladimir Malachov , among others ) and the anniversary open of the Zurich chess society (where he won against Alexander Morosewitsch , among others ).

In 2001 he took part in the FIDE World Championship in Moscow in the knockout system , but was eliminated in the first round against Bartłomiej Macieja .

In 2008 he published the first volume of 1. d4 ( ISBN 1-906552-05-3 ). In it he presents an opening repertoire for white in which the Catalan opening plays a central role. Volume 2 ( ISBN 1-906552-33-9 ) was published in 2010.

Awruch also works as a trainer and second . When NH Chess Tournament in 2010, he oversaw Fabiano Caruana , still he worked with Teimour Radjabov , Vladimir Kramnik , Boris Gelfand and Wesley So together. In 2012 Boris Awruch received the title FIDE Senior Trainer.

Awruch has lived with his family in the United States since 2014 .
