Evgeny Postny ( Hebrew יבגני פוסטני; * July 3, 1981 ) is an Israeli chess master .

Life

Postny won or occupied top places in several tournaments: 2nd place at the U18 European Youth Championship in Patras (1999), 3rd place at the U18 World Youth Championship in Oropesa del Mar (1999), 3rd place at the U20 European Youth Championship in Patras (2001), 1. – 2. 1st place at the Elekes Memorial in Budapest (2002), 1st place at the FS06 GM First Saturday tournament in Budapest (2002), 1st place at the GM tournament Balatonlelle (2003), 1st place at the FS07 GM First Saturday tournament in Budapest (2003 ), 3rd place at the Skanská Cup in Olomouc (2004), 1st – 3rd place Place at the ZMD Open in Dresden (2006), 1st – 2nd place Place at the tournament in Ma'alot (2008), 2nd – 4th Place at the Aegean Open in Agios Kirykos (2008) and 1st – 3rd Place at the Open in Paleochora (2008). In 2000 he became International Master , and since 2002 he has held the title of Grand Master . Postny took in 2011 and 2013 at the Chess World Cup in part, but failed in both participation in the first round.

National team

Postny took part in the 2008 , 2012 and 2014 Chess Olympiads with the Israeli national team and came second with the team in 2008. He also represented Israel at the World Team Championships in 2010, 2011 and 2015 and the European Team Championships in 2009 and 2011 . At the European team in 2011, he achieved the third-best result of the reserve players.

In Israel, Postny plays for the Be'er Scheva Chess Club , with which he has participated in the European Club Cup six times since 2009 . In the German Federal Chess League, Postny played for the Eppingen chess club from 2005 to 2007 and for the Sportfreunde Katernberg from 2007 to 2009 . From 2009 to 2015 he played again for SC Eppingen, for the 2015/16 season he moved to SK Schwäbisch Hall , for which he played until the team withdrew after the 2017/18 season. Postny has been playing for BCA Augsburg since the 2018/19 season . In the Austrian Bundesliga he played for the Salzburg team SIR Bernhard Glatz from 2013 to 2018 , in France he has played for the Club d'Echecs Metz Fischer since 2006 . In Belgium he plays for the chess friends Wirtzfeld , with whom he became Belgian team champion in 2009 , 2013 and 2018 , he has also played in Croatia for ŠK Zagreb , with which he took part in the European Club Cup in 2008. In the Spanish team championship , Postny played for CE Barberà in 2008 and 2010 .
