Together with the surrounding settlements, it has 2955 inhabitants, the small town of Agios Kirykos itself 2218 inhabitants. A Neolithic settlement was discovered east of Agios Kirykos. The foundations and floors of the ruins are made of stone, round and have a diameter of 3.70 m to 5.20 m. Further archaeological finds testify to a settlement in antiquity. Presumably due to pirate attacks , the place was abandoned and the area was not settled again until around 1750. The port of Agios Kirykos is the most important on the island. Daily ferry connections from Piraeus via the Cyclades to Samos. In addition, there are regular connections with Fourni.

  • Therma (Θέρμα ( n. Pl. )) Is located 2 km northeast of Agios Kirykos by the sea. Therma was the one colony of Miletus on Ikaria. Since there are no signs of agriculture or animal husbandry in ancient times, it is assumed that the use of the hot springs brought economic wealth to the place even then. Today only a few fragments of the baths from the Hellenistic and Roman times have survived.

From the fortifications and the ancient city, which was known for its wine production, there is still a 12 m high limestone tower. It served as an observation post for maritime traffic between Ikaria and Samos and is one of the best preserved Athenian watchtowers from the Hellenistic era. The Greek Navy damaged the tower during target exercises in 1827.
