Remarks

  1. The ATP officially lists Borg's winning streak in 1979/80 as 41. However, a comparison with the overview of the tournaments he played in 1979 and 1980 shows a series of 52 unbeaten games between September 1979 and May 1980. Within this period there is a walkover defeat, which is not recorded as a defeat in the player statistics. However, if you see a winning streak as ended with a walkover defeat, the overview shows a series of 43 matches. The number of 41 matches can be obtained by comparing it with the overview of the ITF here . Differences arise in the Davis Cup games against Romania (according to ATP in September 1979 and thus one day before the game against Czechoslovakia, which seems unlikely; according to ITF in July 1979) and Germany (according to ATP in March 1980 ; according to ITF in June 1980). If you follow the data from the ITF, which is the organizer of the Davis Cup, you get the figure of 41 given by the ATP. If you didn't see the winning streak through walkover defeats as ended, you would come up with the ITF overview 48 wins.
  2. The ATP officially lists Borg's winning streak in 1978 as 35. A comparison with the overview of the tournaments played by him , however, shows a series of 43 unbeaten games between March and August of that year. There are two walkover defeats within this period , but these are not recorded as defeats in the player statistics. However, if you consider a winning streak to be over with a walkover defeat, the overview shows a series of 31 matches. However, the ATP overview does not include the Davis Cup games in 1978. Including these (available at the ITF here ), you have 49 wins or 35 wins.
  3. a b c d e f These winning streaks are not listed in the ATP World Tour Guide 2012 (p. 194). In part, this is due to the fact that only winning streaks from 1975 onwards are taken into account and the streak in question was achieved earlier.
  4. According to the ITF overview , this winning streak comprised 31 wins. According to the ATP overview , only 29 victories can be proven. As above, the difference results from the differing specification of the date of the Davis Cup game against Romania.
  5. Source: CBS Sports / STATS LLC / AP and ITF . According to the ATP overview, there are 27 (including a walkover defeat to 28) wins. This depends on the order in which the matches were played in the group stage of the Masters , which cannot be clearly determined from the available sources. The information that has been assigned twice is therefore followed, especially since the ATP sequence appears alphabetically.
  6. If a winning streak is not seen as ended by a walkover defeat, this streak increases to 30 matches; the start is already in March 2012.
  7. Source: ITF overview . According to the ATP overview , the Davis Cup results that were not taken into account lead to a lower number
  8. Source: ITF overview . The ATP overview provides a different result due to the pre-dating of the Davis Cup game against Germany in 1980 from June to March
  9. Source: ITF overview . According to the ATP overview , the Davis Cup results that were not taken into account lead to a lower number
  10. According to other sources, this series extends to 75 victories. The indoor tournaments in Sydney 1983 and Stockholm 1984 are considered with 5 wins each. According to ATP overviews in 1983 and 1984 , however, these tournaments were played on hard courts.
  11. According to other sources, this series extends to 66 victories. The indoor tournaments in Cologne , Vienna and Basel in 1981, each with 5 wins and two wins from the Davis Cup game against Germany in 1982, are taken into account. The start of the series would be in October 1981. According to ATP overviews in 1981 and 1982 , however, these tournaments were played on hard courts.
  12. Source: ATP player profile. According to the ITF player profile, there are 33 victories in a row, since the indoor tournament in Paris was played on carpet according to information there; according to ATP, it was played on hard courts.
  13. Source: ATP player profile. According to another source , this series comprised only 37 victories without further details.
  14. Source: ATP player profile. According to another source , this series comprised 59 matches.
  15. According to the ATP , Federer has a winning streak of 26 matches in the hall. On the basis of the ATP player profile, however, only series of 23 (September 2006 to October 2007), 22 (April 2004 to November 2005) and 16 matches (November 2010 to February 2012) can be documented.
  16. At the ATP, after the tournament victory in Rotterdam, there is only talk of 24 wins . It only refers to the five tournaments won during this period (ATP World Tour Finals 2010, Basel 2011, Paris Masters 2011 and ATP World Tour Finals 2011 with 5 wins each, Rotterdam 2012 with 4 wins). The 26th victory comes from Switzerland's Davis Cup game (hosted by ITF) against Portugal in July 2011 (see here ), victories 27–30 from the Basel 2012 tournament.
