The Little Murray River is a 61.8 km long, orographic left or southwest branch of the Murray River in the north of the Australian state of Victoria , which begins east of the village of Fish Point and flows back into the Murray River at the town of Swan Hill . Pental Island lies between the two arms of the river .

The branch branches off about 7.5 km east of Fish Point from the Murray River at an altitude of 81  m . In a strongly meandering course, the Little Murray River initially flows 5.5 km in a south-westerly direction, which corresponds to about 3 km as the crow flies. With the mouth of the Loddon River , the direction of the river changes to the northwest. After a further 55.2 km of flow, the river flows back into the Murray River at Swan Hill at 72  m . With a height difference between the origin and the mouth of 9 m, the mean bed slope is about 0.15 ‰.

Between the Murray River and Little Murray River is Pental Island . Two bridges cross the Little Murray River. The first bridge is at Fish Point, the second at Swan Hill.
