The Little Pine River is a small river in the US state in Minnesota . It flows into the Pine River , a tributary to the upper Mississippi River .

According to the USGS ( streamstats.usgs.gov ), the river is 49 km long (including the lakes it flows through) and has a catchment area of 365 km². This consists of 6.34% still waters and includes not only the northeastern Crow Wing County but also small areas of the adjacent Counties Cass and Aitkin . It rises at 390 m above sea level and flows through five lakes. The Little Pine River is the only river with that name in the United States.

The river has its origin in Little Pine Lake in the northeast corner of Crow Wing County. The uppermost section of the water has been straightened and is routed around the small Caraway Lake . The first lake that the Little Pine River flows through is Duck Lake , followed by Lake Mary and Lake Emily . The latter is the largest lake in the Little Pine River with an area of ​​almost 3 km². After Lake Emily, the river flows mainly in a southerly direction, partly meandering . Below the confluence with the Mud Brook , the Little Pine River turns to the southwest. Before it flows into the Pine River, it flows through a wetland and the Rice Bed Lake and finally feeds the approximately 0.4 km² Google Lake .
