Living in a box
Living in a Box was a British pop band active in the 1980s . It consisted of the singer and guitarist Richard Darbyshire (born March 8, 1960 , in Stockport , Cheshire , England ), the keyboardist Marcus Vere (born January 29, 1962) and the drummer Anthony "Tich" Critchlow (born March 1, 1960) .
Career
Living in a Box was founded in 1985 in Sheffield by Richard Darbyshire, Marcus Vere and Anthony Critchlow . Their first album of the same name was released in 1987 and reached number 25 on the UK charts .
The first released single Living in a Box was their most successful hit. The song, produced by Richard James Burgess , reached top positions in many European countries and the USA , including fourth place in Germany .
In 1989, the band's second album, Gatecrashing, was released, which includes two other UK top ten hits, Blow the House Down and Room in Your Heart . Brian May was involved here as a guest musician.
Creative differences led to the breakup of the group in 1990 before the planned third album could be released.
Lead singer Richard Darbyshire continued his career as a solo artist and songwriter . Among other things, he wrote the hit Credo for Jennifer Rush and several songs for Lisa Stansfield . His solo albums How Many Angels and Love Will Provide were released in 1994 and 1999 .
In 2013, Vodafone used the song Living in a Box for its television commercial.
