Hanneman started the US Super Tour in Anchorage for the first time in January 2010 and achieved 28th place in the sprint. His best results at the Junior World Championships 2012 in Erzurum were 23rd place in the skiathlon and 11th place in the relay. At the Junior World Championships 2013 in Liberec , he finished 39th in the skiathlon, 16th in the sprint and 12th place in the relay. In February 2015 he came at the U23 World Championships in Almaty on the 40th place over 15 km freestyle and 23rd place in the sprint and in February 2016 at the U23 World Championships in Râșnov on the 55th place over 15 km classic and to 15th place in the sprint. In November 2015, he took his first US Super Tour victory in the West Yellowstone sprint . In the 2016/17 season he achieved five top ten placements, sixth place in the overall ranking of the US Super Tour. He won the sprint in Fairbanks . He had his debut in the cross-country skiing world cup in January 2018 in Planica , which he finished in 35th place in the sprint. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he finished 42nd in the sprint. In February 2019 he got his first World Cup points with the 27th place in the sprint in Cogne and ran to the 26th place in the sprint at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tyrol .
His brother Reese is also active in cross-country skiing.
