Long Jack Phillipus Jakamarra
Long Jack Phillipus Jakamarra , also called Phillipus , Longjack Phillipus and Jack Phillipus (* 1932 in Kalipinypa near Kintore in the Northern Territory , Australia ), is an Australian Aboriginal artist. He lives and works in Papunya .
Life
Long Jack grew up west of Mt Farewell and went to Haasts Bluff with his family when he was a teenager . There he married Georgette Napaltjarri, with whom he has two sons and three daughters. In 1962 he moved to Papunya , where he met the art teacher Geoffrey Bardon and became a leading member of the Papunya Tula artist movement . In 1984 he was ordained a Lutheran pastor.

Long Jack painted on the walls of the school building in Papunya two smaller mural , the widows and Wallaby - Dreamtime abbildeten. Later he was in the great Honey Ant Dreaming with Kaapa Tjampitjinpa , Billy Stockman Tjapaltjarri involved and others. This mural is considered the starting point for painting in the style of dot painting. The aforementioned murals have been lost.

In the early 1990s he was president of the Papunya Tula Artists , an Aboriginal community of artists.
