Alwin Lonke ( Alwin Diedrich Hermann Lonke ; born March 8, 1865 in Bremen ; † July 7, 1947 in Bremen) was a German educator , historian and author who was particularly active in the area of ​​North German prehistory and early history and the history of Bremen .

biography

Lonke was the son of a teacher and member of the Bremen citizenship . He attended grammar school in Bremen and studied theology , philosophy , history , geography and German at the University of Marburg , the University of Berlin and the University of Bonn . He completed the years of preparation for higher education in Kleve and Mönchengladbach . In 1891 he was a teacher at a private secondary school in Bremen. In 1894 he received the senior teaching certificate.

He worked as a teacher in Bremen at various schools. In 1897 he was appointed teacher at the Bremen commercial school . In 1905, after this school was divided, he was senior teacher and professor at the secondary school on Dechanatstrasse . In 1909 he was awarded the title of professor.

Lonke carried out research in the area of ​​prehistory and early history in northern Germany. He arranged the prehistoric collection in the municipal museum for natural, ethnic and commercial studies .
He wrote numerous papers on the (early) history of Bremen and the local history of Burg and Grambke . His main work is the oldest Lassungsbuch 1434-1558 as the source of the topography of Bremen from 1931 deals with the topography in and around Bremen ( omission: see conveyance ).

In addition, Lonke wrote poetry and dealt with the theater. From 1900 he was on the board of the historical society and worked as an author on the Bremen biography of the 19th century . He was an active member of the North German Association for Age Research
