The Lord Nunatak is a 1075 m high nunatak in the East Antarctic Coatsland . In the Shackleton Range, it rises 2.5 km southwest of the Baines Nunatak , halfway between the Herbert Mountains and the Pioneers Escarpment .
Aerial photographs were taken in 1967 by the United States Navy ; the British Antarctic Survey carried out surveys between 1968 and 1971. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1972 after the Canadian explorer William Barry Lord , next to Thomas Baines one of the two authors of the work Shifts and Expedients of Camp Life, Travel and Exploration from 1876.
