Lorenz Hüttner (born July 23, 1934 in Nonnberg ) is a Roman Catholic priest .

Life

Hüttner was ordained a priest in 1960 . First he worked as a chaplain in Spiegelau , later he worked in the diocese of Passau with the Christian youth workers and as secretary to the vicar general. From 1969 to 1977 he was pastor in Frauenau , then city pastor of Neuötting . From 1987 to 2004 he was a member of the Passau Cathedral Chapter . First he worked as a construction and art consultant. In 1990 he was appointed vicar general (until 2003) and cathedral dean (until 1997) in the diocese of Passau by the Passau bishop Franz Xaver Eder as successor to Anton Geyer . Pope John Paul II awarded him on January 25, 1994 the title of " Papal Honorary Prelate ". In 1997, Hüttner as dean chairs the Passauer cathedral chapter. He held this office until 2004. In addition, Hüttner was the publishing director of the Passau Diocese Gazette for many years.

In 1996, Hüttner was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class, for his civic engagement in pastoral care . The city of Passau awarded him their citizen medal. Finally, in 2006, he received the Bavarian Order of Merit .
