Lorenz Niebuhr

Lorenz Niebuhr also Laurentius Niebur (* around 1540 in Hamburg ; † April 13, 1588 in Güstrow ) was a German lawyer and university professor.

Life

Lorenz Niebuhr was the son of a Hamburg councilor. He was enrolled in June 1567 at the University of Rostock under the rector David Chyträus and received his doctorate in 1569 as a licentiate (juris). Also in 1569 he was appointed full professor of rights / Pandects (ducal) at the Rostock University. In 1571 he was appointed consistorial assessor and a member of the ducal consistory. In 1573 Johannes Borcholten received his doctorate as Dr. iur. utr. Niebuhr held the office of rector of the university during the summer semesters 1571 and 1577. Johannes Albinus was his successor on the professorship in 1578, as Niebuhr moved to the court of Duke Ulrichs in Güstrow as court counselor in Mecklenburg-Güstrow .

Lorenz Niebuhr died of suicide.
