Lorenz Specht

Lorenz Specht (born May 21, 1931 in Ludwigsmoos ; † August 30, 2016 ) was a German motorcyclist .

As a motorcycle off-road athlete, Lorenz Specht won the international six-day race three times with the FRG national team . Seven individual titles at the German off-road championship followed in 1970 by winning the European championship. In 1960 he was one of the first German champions in trial sport , and repeated this success the following year.

Athletic career

In Upper Bavarian Ludwigsmoos - not far from Ingolstadt  - Specht was born. He began his motorsport career in 1951 with skill drives. In 1955 he became a works driver for Ardie , at which point he was already successfully competing in cross-country sports. After the Nuremberg company withdrew from this motorsport discipline, he switched to Zündapp . In 1957 , he took part in the International Six-Day Race for the first time with a 175 cc machine . In the end, Specht won the Six Days with the FRG Trophy Team. After that he was - except for one year - always a member of the German national team, several times as its captain. In 1961 and 1968 Lorenz Specht won the Six Days again with the team. The last time he took part in an international six-day race in 1972 and then ended his career.

Between 1962 and 1970 Lorenz Specht won seven individual titles at the German Championships. Since 1967 he has also participated in the continental championships, in 1970 he became European champion in the class up to 100 cm³.

On May 28, 1969, he received the Silver Laurel Leaf for his athletic achievements .

He was able to use his experiences from the first skill drives in trail sports. At the first German championships in 1960 he won the title in the class up to 100 cm³, and in the following year he successfully defended it.
