Loretta Lux (* 1969 in Dresden ) is a German painter and photographer.

Life

In 1989, a few months before the Berlin Wall came down, she moved to Munich. She had previously been denied the opportunity to study art in the GDR . From 1990 to 1996 she studied painting and graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. From 1994 to 1996 she was a master class student under Professor Gerd Winner . 1997 to 1998 she received the DAAD scholarship for a stay in London . The artist became known for her surrealist photographs of children. Her works include portraits and full-body shots, whereby the images appear very staged and the models are often placed in the foreground against pastel-colored backgrounds. A processing method that includes photography, painting and digital image manipulation and combines them with one another is typical for her pictures. Your pictures appear timeless due to the accessories you choose and the clothing of the models. The artist is not only influenced by photographers, but also by painting, which she combines in her works. Lux is now also known outside of Germany, especially in Great Britain and the USA, it receives a lot of attention, which is reflected in numerous reports and publications in various news and specialist magazines. In addition, her works can be found in numerous public collections around the world.

Today Loretta Lux lives and works in Monaco .
